Drinks

In this section, we introduce you to a wide variety of drinks, hot and cold, such as teas, coffee, milk drinks, lemonades and suchlike – hip party drinks with guarana, caffeine or taurine, but also alcoholic drinks. This includes mainly different wines, liqueurs, spirits, long drinks – but also mocktails and much more.

But first of all, a few words about drinking in general – As we all know, drinking – and especially enough of it – is much more important than eating. Depending on gender, constitution and climate, one should drink between 2 to 5 litres daily. This way the body can metabolise properly, regulate our temperature and detoxify our system properly. So, it is not meant here the drinking of alcoholic beverages… at the moment we are still talking about water.

As we lose a lot of water through sweating, especially in hot regions of the world, it is necessary to drink more than in cold regions. Although, if you have already paid attention – in cold regions you can see it well – we also lose water through breathing. For example, if we breathe onto the surface of a window pane, condensation will form there and it becomes clear that we also lose water here with every breath.

In warm regions the locals tend to prefer warm drinks like tea or coffee – we as tourists tend to drink cold soda, but this has the opposite effect from our intention. The body tries to get it to body temperature and produces heat.

But if the locals take their warm drinks in small sips, this results in a slight continuous sweating, which in turn contributes to the cooling of the body through evaporation… so everything is quite “tricky”.

Since, as with everything on foodadvisor, the focus is on the culinary aspect, the contributions in this section will also be mainly about taste & texture and we hope to present you some interesting wines, smart liqueurs and rare soft drinks.

Of course, we also have – as in almost all foodadvisor sections – a quite extensive backlog of candidates for further contributions to this section. Also, here we will put a contribution live from time to time – if our time allows it.

If you have any suggestions for potential beverage topics, please send us an e-mail – we are always open to suggestions.

Thank you very much and now have fun browsing & of course also drinking!
