Grand Mercure ASOKE

The Grand Mercure ASOKE is a five star apartment hotel in the heart of Bangkok – the ideal starting point to explore the city by BTS (sky train) or MRT (subway) or go shopping in the immediate vicinity – for example in the Terminal 21 ASOKE mall (there is a free shuttle every half an hour).

The staff were all friendly and courteous and the service was very good.

For the apartments, you can choose between superior, deluxe or executive suites – all have decent TVs, separate living rooms, kitchens with full-size refrigerators, and above all a decent washing machine.

In Thailand, it is mostly washed cold and the laundry services where you can do the laundry always sew stickers in the things because they wash the laundry of all customers together – but the things lose especially often the colours because of too much chlorine and really clean was it never – so for us especially the washing machine was a real highlight.

The apartments are – as well as in the “normal” hotel cleaned daily and for 300 THB delivery fee there is an online shopping service where you can fill the fridge after the arrival – what more could you ask for.

Our executive suite was nicely decorated, super clean, the bathrooms very neat – no mold, all very good value – five-star level. We were on the eighth floor and therefore we had a great view over the district.

On the roof there are a few pool chairs with a Jacuzzi area, a separated sauna and steam room for men & women and a small fitness area. In addition, there will probably soon be a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner – in which kind of food they will cook they did not want to betray us yet.

The breakfast is meanwhile offered in one of the suites – small but fine, but just a temporary solution, but in the area near to the Mercure you will find a lot of restaurants to compensate that – as long as the in-house restaurant is not finished.

For us the price / performance ratio was consistent – you currently get in the Grand Mercure ASOKE your own well-equipped apartment for the price of a small four-star hotel room. In the quite large executive suite with extra beds you can for example book for four persons – actually ideal. The pool could be bigger, but above deeper and also the fitness area would be upgradeable – however, we had all that in the beach hotels in the south – after the day tours through Bangkok we “flopped tired into bed” every day.

I can especially recommend this apartment residence to anyone who wants to explore Bangkok on their own and needs a real “home base”.

Of course, free parking is also available – but who wants to be in Bangkok by car …
